Gang Aft Agley...

Just went by the house to see the retaining wall that I didn't know for sure was going up today and...it's ugly. They used a really dark grout instead of the white grout they said they would use. It literally looks like they were going along (the workers I mean, with no supervision) and then bossman came by and went...WAIT! What are you doing? We have to stop and order the right color of grout NOW! because when I went by at 3:30 there was no one there and 1/2 a wall not finished. I'm sure all will be righted...I'm SURE of it. But this is just another reason why my summer is nonexistent and I will have to be out there every morning whether I know they will be working or not. I just need to keep caught up on housework and only work on that stuff in the evening instead of quilting. Now that I have a key to the Kentopp's house, I won't feel stuck out there with no place to go not wanting to drive back and forth between Rockwall and mom and dad's. Just need a bit of a routine.

Also met with a framer who has recommendations for every other phase of building (yay!) and he was a really nice guy. Hope his quote turns out to be a good one. It's way better to work with local people anyway.

So here are the latest pics. OH! So we're going to try to leave the pad flat and accommodate the foundation to fit it. Andy said that in 10 years he's never made a sloping pad and thought it was silly and expensive and over-engineered (sorry to any engineers out there) just like our retaining wall was over-engineered and would have cost a fortune to build. So lesson learned.
